I've heard it said that in order to raise a fluent reader you need to have read 1000 books covering a wide range of topics before they begin Kindergarten. That's a lot of books and a lot of reading! Have no fear; if you read at least 5 books per day to your toddler starting now - you'll catch up in no time. It also doesn't mean you have to go out and buy 1000 books. How to get your 1000 books:- You can borrow hard copies from your local library
- Trade books with your Mommy/Toddler friends or if you want something more Covid friendly...
- You can borrow e-books from your local library
- Purchase e-books (which tend to be cheaper than hard copies of books.)
- Make use of free book opportunities. For that Happy Meal option select the book!
- Listen to readings of books for free on YouTube
